Nibbler

Shh... Don't tell anyone... I love Matt Groening.

I know, it's a shock. But it's true. Futurama is totally awesome, which you may already know from my Futurama nails which can be seen here (or from, you know, watching it). I think Nibbler, Leela's pet who poops dark matter, is pretty adorable, so I put him (and his poop) on my nails. The idea came to me because my friend Erika was making her boyfriend a Futurama Clue game for his birthday (like the themed Monopoly's, but with Clue and Futurama). She was trying to come up with weapons, and I figured that Nibbler, who can eat just about anything in one bite, would be a pretty awesome weapon. I forget if she ended up using him as a weapon or not, but I know all of her ideas were AMAZING and that it turned out insanely awesome.

Fun fact: Most people mispronounce Groening... It rhymes with "complaining"

Life in Hell

Life in Hell is the comic strip that (THE GREAT) Matt Groening made before going on to do make The Simpsons and Futurama. I am a gigantic Matt Groening fan. He has inspired me to watch lots of T.V., be cynical, and know more about the culture that makes our world. I began watching The Simpsons when I was about 2 years old during the shows' first season. It quickly became a family tradition to eat dinner in front of the T.V. while watching The Simpsons, and let me tell you, those are some of my favorite childhood memories. Once I began reading, my father introduced me to Groening's Life in Hell series which includes Love is Hell, Work is Hell, Childhood is Hell, and my personal favorite (and mantra) School is Hell. Each book follows Binky, the one eared bunny, through misfortune.

On my nails I painted my absolute FAVORITE strip from the series, where Binky responds to his shadow of a father that "Mistakes were made," as he stands amongst the wreckage. I put the comic up too so that you can see my inspiration. On my right hand I painted Akbar and Jeff, who make many appearances, and the Charlie Brown-esque logo that is on their shirts.

I hope you enjoy, these are some of my all time favorite nails.

Futurama

Zoidberg is my favorite which is why he got two nails (the pinky is his face and the thumb are his claws).
You'll probably start to notice a pattern that I am a huge Matt Groening fan. It all started when I was about 3 when my family and I began watching The Simpsons during dinner. Since then, I have loved pretty much anything he is involved with. Of course, Futurama is no exception. When it came out, I almost got the same feelings that I did watching new episodes of the early seasons of The Simpsons. And since then I haven't missed an episode or movie, and you probably couldn't pay me enough to (well, you probably could... but I'm kinda poor).

Blinky

Everyone who knows me knows that I love The Simpsons more than any other T.V. show. When I was growing up my parents and I ate dinner every night while watching The Simpsons and those are some of my happiest memories. I don't think I'm alone in thinking that the show has really deteriorated over time, so I thought I would do a set of nails that paid tribute to the older seasons. This is Blinky the three eyed fish. Bart caught him in the lake that was being polluted by Mr. Burns and the power plant and he became the symbol of a campaign against the pollution created by the plant.
NOTE: I saw someone else do a design similar to this one, but I didn't note who did it, so I'm sorry for not giving credit where it's due.
