Metal Gods

Don't forget to check out my guest post at Polish Art Addiction today! I did some Tank Girl nails!

Two days ago, on Tuesday, I took the last exam of my undergraduate degree. Because it was my last semester I decided to take a couple of fun classes. You may recall from my Godzilla nails that I took a film class about Godzilla movies, well my other class was a class about the history of heavy metal! I've been listening to metal for 15 years now, so I figured that their couldn't be a more perfect class for me! One of our assignments was that we had to go see the band Judas Priest perform live at a concert. I know... What an awful assignment! Haha! The best part of the assignment was that I would have gone to the show anyways, but since I was part of the class we got discount tickets!

I painted my nails for the concert, like I usually do, but I only had about ten minutes to paint them! I have a really really really awesome Judas Priest nail art idea, but it'll have to wait until I have more time! For now, all I've got is this logo!

Lacey Lace

I'm swooning over the events of the last few days still, so please excuse me if I randomly just start going off on a happiness tangent.

These are some lace nails. Or, kind of lace, I don't know, what are they? I painted them when Ron and I went with a few friends to go see the band 40 Watt Sun in Philadelphia. 40 Watt Sun has the same front man as Warning, who are one of Ron and I's bands (That's right, we have a band, not a song) so we were really excited to see them! Lalalala I'm trailing off now... Too much excitement to be blogging about nails.....

Iron Maiden and THE BEST SURPRISE EVER

Well, if this isn't the best day ever to be posting Iron Maiden nails, I don't know what is!

Iron Maiden, an amazing heavy metal band, is Ron's favorite band. He has seen them many times and he would probably go far and wide (and possibly spend all of our money) to see them many more times. But the reason that these nails could not have come at a better time is because....

Ron proposed to me last night (I said yes)! So instead of telling you about Iron Maiden, I think I'll tell you about that!

Ron and I both love metal music, and last night we went to a concert where the bands Exhumed and Goatwhore played (I'm sorry for the faint of heart, there is sometimes profanity in metal). Well, Exhumed is probably one of my favorite death metal bands, so during their set, all of a sudden the front-man says, "Alright, where's Ron? Get up here, Ron" and then he points to me and says, "You too!" Before this moment, I hadn't suspected anything, but as soon as I was forced up on stage, I knew what was going on.

Ron's proposal was probably the best thing ever. He said to me, "Ever since I met you, I knew I wanted to be with you... And I want to give you my heart for the rest of my life." He proceeded to rip his shirt open and fake blood started spewing everywhere! Then he pulled out a fake heart and handed it to me. I'm pretty sure that at some point he was down on one knee, but honestly, I was so in shock that I'm not totally sure. At the very bottom I posted some video. There is swearing and blood, but it is adorable.

We spent the evening attempting to not get my beautiful engagement ring bloody and now our skin is stained red. I joked with him, "Well, you may have fake blood stain on you for a few days, but now you're stuck with me for a lifetime!"
Here is my beautiful White Topaz and Black Diamond ring (plus Ron's heart... duh...)

The Exhumed nails that I wore to the show... There will be better pictures of the nails soon!

And again!

Joy Division

I have never been a huge Joy Division fan, but I got a very nice request from a gentleman, Tony, on tumblr asking if I could do these for him. (Also, go check him out, he may not being posting nail art, but he likes some awesome things.) Tony's acknowledgement of my art was the first time that I really felt like I was doing something successful. He and I initially had contact after he reblogged my MST3K nails on tumblr. He paid me a very nice compliment, and at the time I wasn't getting very many so I took the time to say thank you. He made me realize that my nail art was good enough that a straight male whom I had never met before might think it was cool. Which for some reason feels like a HUGE accomplishment to me. So when he suggested these Joy Division nails I couldn't wait to do them! They are the album artwork from Joy Division's album Unknown Pleasures (below). I was so happy with how they turned out! It was weird because I was wearing these nails and I never  wanted to take them off, but not being a huge fan myself, I felt kinda poser-y. Anyways, I love requests more than anything ever, and Tony has suggested a few more ideas. So hopefully you'll be seeing those soon!

PS. I love requests. Give me requests.

Public Enemy

I have little to say about these nails because Public Enemy's awesomeness speaks for itself. But for some reason my cop is wearing a page boy hat. I think that was an error on my part.

NOTE: This is my 100th nail art design! Yay! Celebrate!

Pentagram

The long awaited answer to what concert was at the end of the week! It was Pentagram! Pentagram is an awesome doom metal band fronted by the crazy man himself, Bobby Liebling (check out my thumb... it's supposed to be his unkempt hair and mustache, but it fails a little bit). The rest of my nails are the band's logo, which obviously says Pentagram. And on my other thumb I made... Drum roll, please: a pentagram! (shocker, I know)

I know Bobby Liebling's wife saw these nails, but I sure hope he did too. I was the crazy girl at the show that, instead of making the rock-on sing with my hands, was holding my nails up in the air. But, I think that's how I am everyday...

Van Halen

I've also never been a huge Van Halen fan, but my friend Mike suggested that I do some frakenstrat nails and it was too good of an idea to pass up. This was the week of painting bands on my nails which culminated with an awesome concert at the end of the week. I won't spoil the surprise, but I'm going out of town for the weekend, so tomorrow evening or Monday morning you can see the last of the band nails (at least for this week).

The Rolling Stones

I've never actually been a huge Rolling Stones fan, but there logo is so iconic that I thought it would make awesome nail art. These definitely came out pretty cool -- They are simple but not boring. I especially love the matte look for these nails. I achieved this by using only acrylic paints and then not top coating. Obviously this means that these nails didn't last very long, but since I usually change my nails once a day, it wasn't a bit deal when they started smudging.

King Diamond

King Diamond is one of my favorite musicians. Regardless if I'm listening to Mercyful Fate or his self titled band King Diamond, I can't help but be in a good mood. Being the performer that he is, his on-stage theatrics are amazing. To pay tribute to him, I did what I always do... Painted his essence on my nails. If you look at the below picture, you can see that on my middle finger I painted his face paint, and my other fingers were different aspects of the logo that he uses for King Diamond (the band).

Kiss

I love Kiss. A lot. I get made fun of for that fact. A lot.
Kiss got me into the music I listen to today because of their outrageous look. They will always hold a special place in my heart. Whenever I want to feel better I turn to Kiss because I can't be sad when I'm listening to Love Gun or Destroyer. So these are my Kiss nails, complete with Ace, Peter, Gene and Paul. I have gotten some guff already for including Peter.... so if that's how you feel: back off, he's the best.
